We are well into Spring and it’s that time of year again - Lawn care time! After a long and blistery winter, we are starting to see little pops of green around the Tennessee Valley. Since we are coming off of a cold winter, that means taking some extra steps to ensure that your lawn and garden areas areas are fully prepped to thrive this summer!

Start With A Good Trim:

Your lawn will thank you for this first cut of the season, and the best tip we can provide is to do a light cut. Your grass should be about 3” tall before the first cut of the season to ensure that you don’t cut it too low. You can also prepare your lawn with weed & feed to ensure you give the grass nutrients while also taking early preventative measures against weeds.

Fresh Mulch Is A Must:

This is THE best time of year to score good deals on mulch! Being in the South, we are blessed with an abundance of chain and local home care stores, and most of those stores have deals (like 5 bags for $10!!) which can help you save while getting a leg-up on your flower beds. Fresh mulch not only helps bring a ton of hydration to your plants and soil, but it also makes for amazing curb appeal.

Always Keep Bug Killers On Hand:

You’re walking through your yard surveying the work to be done, and there it is, a small ant bed between your sidewalk and flower bed. Ants, among other insects are prone to start popping up from time to time, when you least expect it, and so having bug killer in your shed will help when those unexpected ant hills arise.

Maintenance Lawn Care Equipment:

It’s been a few months since we’ve used mowers, edgers, clippers so it’s always a good idea to check the condition of your equipment and service them before using. Fresh oil, a new tank of gas, and new trimmer line can give your equipment new life so they can perform at their best for the warm months ahead!

We are so excited to see our area return to it’s full glory as the weather warms! Long evenings in the yard with family and friends make for some of the best memories, and we can’t wait to soak up the rays this Spring and Summer. We hope that you’ve enjoyed our Garden & Lawn Care Tips and encourage you to reach out if you need any tips for home curb appeal best practices, or for recommendations on some of our favorite Home Care Stores and local lawn professionals.
